the bright orange awning.

For
a map to the studio and driving directions please see our DIRECTIONS link.
What
are your hours of operation? Danny Screams is open from 12pm until 1am.
What are your rates? Recording rates are
$30 per hour, with a two-hour minimum. Rehearsal rates, depending on the size of the group and which room you book start
at $15 per hour (Studio B) and go up to $17 per hour (Studio A/Live Room). Danny Screams Studios also offers a day-rate recording
session at $250 for 10 hours and a weekday recording special valid Monday through Friday 12pm-6pm, which grants a 6-hour session
for $125.
How do I book time? You
must always call the studio (718-782-2832) to book time. We do not book via E-Mail or Myspace messaging. When calling,
give your name, a contact number, the time you would like to book, and have your credit card information available.
Do I have to leave a deposit to book? For
advance rehearsal or recording bookings, a valid card number or non-refundable 50% cash deposit is required to reserve time.
For same-day rehearsal reservations, no deposit is necessary. Danny Screams Studios does not grant same-day recording sessions,
though exceptions may apply.
How many hours do I have to book? Rehearsal bookings begin at a one hour minimum and recording bookings start at a 2 hour minimum. Please note: Danny Screams Studios is an HOURLY space, therefore, you may only book in hourly blocks; there are no half
hour bookings, nor do we book on the half-hour.
How do I pay for a session? Danny Screams Studios is a CASH ONLY business. We will only charge your card if you do not show up.
Exceptions may apply for large blocks of time reserved in which case, Credit Card charges will always include an additional
5% charge for non-cash payment.
What is your cancellation policy? To better serve our clients, we require 24-hour notice for cancellation of appointments or there is a 50%
charge for first-timers. A 100% charge will apply for second-offenses and no-call/no-shows. 48-hour notice for
cancellation is required for bookings of four hours or more.
If I arrive
late or leave early from my reserved time, do I still pay in full? You can come
as late or leave as early as you want within your scheduled rehearsal session BUT you are still responsible for the time that
you booked. Therefore, you must pay for the entire session. 24-hour notice is required for any time changes you may have.
Should I or my band mates bring any equipment? Though each room offers a full backline which includes a loud PA System, 5-Piece Pearl or Tama Drum Kit,
3 microphones, 2 Marshall, B-52, or Fender guitar amps, and 1 Ampeg bass amp, we recommend that the drummer brings his/her
own crash cymbals. Drum sticks, pedals, guitar straps, picks, and ¼” cables are not included in the room
equipment but are available upon request (additional fees may apply). A keyboard is available upon request at no additional
charge. Guitar and bass rentals are also available.
Why is one room
$15/hour and the other $17/hour? What’s the difference? Studio B, being
the smaller of the two rooms can comfortably hold 3-4 musicians at one time, while Studio A, which is also the Recording Live
Room can comfortably hold 5-7 musicians at one time. This room houses a 6-piece drum kit, prominent acoustic paneling, and
greater guitar and bass amps.
Can I bring my own recording engineer to a recording
session? No. Only our in-house engineer will be recording and mixing your
sessions on Pro Tools.
Can I bring my own Pro Tools sessions to work
off of? Yes. We will gladly work with you and help build on any prior sessions
you may have.
What is the difference between a live recording and an isolated
one? For a live recording, we will mic up everything in the room and record it
as one full sound, and then overdub the vocals. Isolated recordings are when everything is recorded in separate rooms
at the same or different times, giving it a cleaner sound.
How many songs
can I record in one session? Depending on how rehearsed your band is and whether
or not you choose a live recording or isolated recording, the number of songs that can be done varies from band to band.
Setting up mics for recordings takes some time from your session. Mixing is also a factor to consider because it also takes
up time from your session. If you want it mixed and copied to a cd in one session, you may want to book additional time
just for that. Booking a separate session for mixing is another option to consider. Keep in mind though, the more
time you spend per song, the better the finished product.
Can I smoke
cigarettes in the rehearsal room? No. Danny Screams Studios is a cigarette smoke-free
practice space. This is non-negotiable. We reserve the right to ask you to leave upon violation of this rule.
Is there anything else I should know? Yes.
Your session starts on the hour. Please do not show up earlier than 10 minutes prior to your session. Ringing
the doorbell excessively will not motivate us to let you in sooner, it will only annoy us greater.
Your session
ends on the hour. This includes the time it will take for you to pack up your gear and leave the room in respect for
the next band waiting. Taking longer than the 5-minute warning may warrant an additional charge.
Clients
are responsible for their guests and personal belongings. Danny Screams Studios reserves the right to charge additional
fees based upon any unarranged group maxing out the capacity per room. This is not a hang-out, therefore we recommend
that you keep your sessions professional and be respectful of our space.
